Mark has over forty years of experience in the aviation industry, with a specialty in supporting commuter operators, turboprops, corporate jets, and general aviation aircraft. Known throughout the industry for his honest, dedicated work ethic, Mark has developed a reputation for providing his clients with knowledgeable, unbiased guidance and advice. Mark continues to head the company, steering its business development, innovation and safety council. Mark also personally supports many R&D projects and sustainable fuel initiatives for the general aviation industry.
Operations Manager
Umer, with over a decade of aviation experience, joined the company in 2018 as a captain and quickly became known for his positive attitude, extensive background, and leadership skills. His expertise made him the natural choice for training new captains and first officers. Throughout his tenure, Umer held roles like Flight Operations Specialist, Assistant Chief Pilot, and Chief Pilot. His curiosity, versatility, and commitment to safety led to his promotion to Operations Manager. Umer oversees operations, ensures client satisfaction, and mentors pilots while remaining an active pilot conducting survey flights, demonstrating his commitment to hands-on leadership.
Chief Pilot
Mackenzie is our Chief Pilot. He comes from a background in SMS, Risk management, and Instructing. He grew up as a kid listening to stories of Grandpa Cowan flying the Lancaster during WWII and decided to go down the path of aviation in 2012. He enjoys the challenges that survey flying brings and looks forward to mentoring and learning from crew members and seeing their growth as Pilots and people. He believes a career in aviation is more than just about planes: it is about a humbling lesson in self-growth and continuous improvement. When not in the airplane or office you will find him in a ca fé, in the back country, or taking photos.
Director of Maintenance
Hugo is our director of maintenance with over 10 years of experience in Aerial Survey industry. He has extensive maintenance experience on a variety of aircraft types, from small pistons to large turboprops. Hugo is also highly experienced and resourceful regarding field maintenance. He has been all over the world maintaining aircraft, combining his two passions, avia tion and traveling. His reputation to accomplish, supervise and organize any kind of maintenance activities are invaluable for KASI.
